Tricep Tendon Injection

Triceps tendonitis is an injury or inflammation in the triceps tendon (the thick band of connective tissue) that connects muscle on the back of the arm (triceps) to the elbow bone. The triceps muscle straightens the arm back out after it has been bent.

What is Tricep Tendonitis?

Also known as tricep tendonitis, even at rest it can cause tricep pain. It can also cause elbow tightness and pain, and triceps tenderness when touched. Triceps tendonitis is usually caused by overuse or injury during activities that involve repeated extending of the elbow.

Steriod Injections

Steroid injections are a minimally-invasive treatment option for relieving pain caused by triceps tendonitis. The inflammation in the damaged tendon and joint can be reduced with a corticosteroid injection. The injection contains both a numbing agent and a steroid. A steroid injection may provide long-term relief if the tendon is allowed to heal, or the pain may return in a few months.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections can be beneficial for some patients with triceps tendonitis, stimulating tissue repair to help strengthen the tendon and minimize the pain.
